Thirakkatha Private Show for Priya Mani close friends and family members were held at at the Four Frames preview theatre in Chennai.
The film is based on the life and romantic journey of the late yesteryear actress Srividya. Srividya's personal life was full of tragedies. She fought against all odds with dedication in her work until she died of breast cancer on 19 October 2006. Priyamani is simply outstanding in Thirakkatha.
The film’s writer and director Ranjit too was present for the show and he revealed that the film’s plot was conceived after Srividya’s meeting with Kamal Haasan shortly before her death.
The seeds of Thirakkatha came to me when I heard of Srividya’s one-hour meeting with Kamal Hassan, in her hospital bed in Thiruvananthapuramm, he confessed. He also quoted actress Rohini as having said that the film spoke of the plight of all heroines in showbiz. Dhanush and actress Revathy attended the show.
